Goodness! I am absolutely exhausted! My knees and back ache and I just might fall asleep! Adding the Zumba classes in to my fitness rotation and getting back to a cleaner diet has really knocked me for a loop. Guess this shows me I need to try different workouts!
Good job, NorthernMinnesota!
I am obsessed with my weight scale. I read somewhere that women shouldn’t weigh themselves everyday but its a habit I just can break!
I too am obsessed with my scale. My pups have to patiently wait each morning for me to hop on the scale before I let let them out to do their business.
I think weighing at the same time each day makes the most sense.
Actually, there is somewhere information that those that weigh every day do better with weight control.
I do not think that there are any days other than being away with no scale that I have not weighed myself in many decades as gaining and losing has always been an issue…
Yes, I need to lose 10 but I am also 65 and do look at those scales and flip out and try to correct so that that 10 does not get worse!
I’m down 8 pounds!
And I took a 6 mile walk this AM.
Five pounds and then some party for FallGirl!
Hooray for FallGirl!!!
Just because people are talking about this… I never weigh myself, and don’t even own a scale. I do stress right before I get my physical and eat really good stuff the few days before. My doctor says I can gain 16 pounds and still be healthy, but I would like to lose 10. White wine and Ben and Jerry’s are interfering with that though.
Now that my kids are gone, there will be less tempting food in the house, and I really am hoping to lose a little.
I do better when I weigh myself every or almost every morning and wear jeans at some point in the day. Otherwise it’s too easy to creep up without noticing.
Just a random thought of the day… Carrying 1 extra pound for 26 miles is like carrying 26 extra pounds for 1 mile…
I’m continuing to work on my healthier lifestyle but I had two really eye-opening thoughts/experiences this weekend. The first terrible experience was trying on yoga pants. Good grief! I have some shorts that are long, loose and comfortable, but I wanted a pair of those knee length yoga pants for a class I might take. Oh my - talk about nowhere to hide! I also purchased some of those longer shirts but I know what’s underneath and it isn’t pretty.
The other thing I thought about is that this is normally the time of year that I am ok with my weight. Starting now with football season (tailgates) and holidays is when it gets rough. If I’m going into it with my weight up - I’m in real trouble.
For now, that vision of my body in those yoga pants is burned into my brain for motivation. Let’s hope it works.
Big congrats FallGirl!!! You certainly get all the credit - can we take some credit for supporting you on this thread???
@tired already -Trying on yoga pants can certainly be humbling. I have a large collection of Lucy pants and then one day my left inner thigh decided it wanted to spend time closer to my right inner thigh. Yikes! So now I only wear them with a longer top.
I am not a LandsEnd shopper, but I have these capris and I love them. They allow for extra space between thighs and make your rear end look nice without totally hugging the shape. They might not be the tight to the knee look you want, but they work for yoga and they don’t offend my kids! Lands End is really good about returns. http://www.landsend.com/products/womens-activewear-sport-crop-pants/id_250313
I lost 2 lbs this week, I think that’s how much that poodle weight. She is now back to her previous owner. My stress level was increasing with her because she didn’t let me relax in my yard. She wanted to play with me all the time.
Yoga pants - consider buying up a size from what you normally wear. If you don’t want them tight, but also not baggy, one size can just give you a slightly looser fit. Do you belong to Costco? They have some very reasonably priced yoga pants in a few different styles - many of which are meant for the over 30, 40, 50 crowd, not the under 30.
Regarding fall/holiday seasons and weight gain. How about a change of mind now? If you accept that that is a time you will likely gain weight - then you will likely gain weight!!! You are giving yourself permission to indulge and stack the pounds on. Be proactive. Bring along your own healthier food to the tailgate to supplement the not-so–healthy food there - you don’t have to bring celery sticks, but maybe bring a big chopped salad full of veggies and a dressing with a kick - have lots of that and then a little of the other stuff. I’ll bet others will want your chopped salad too!
Same at the holidays. If you don’t get in the habit now of smaller portions, better choices, more movement in your day - guess what - those extra pounds will be there greeting you at the start of the New Year. Because you gave yourself permission for them to come on!
DrGoogle, I have two Labs - one who is a couch potato and the other who is “go, go, go” all the time. Having a playful family member can really help keep weight in check!
Yoga pants - I love the Lululemon Wunder Under capris and their Groove shorts. Both are very flattering and figure forgiving!
^^I go up a size in yoga pants. I think my self image took a nose dive when the fashion designers decided to lower the waistbands to jeans and pants. I was happy with my body when my muffin top was in check.
Isn’t a higher waistband more uncomfortable for muffin top???
If the waistband is high enough, then the entire muffin top is hidden. For some of us, that means a waistband not far from our armpits.
So much of it depends on your individual body type. I’m slim, but I have no waist. So pants that fit my hips tend to cut into my stomach, and give me muffin top. Lower-cut pants work well for me, since they are cut wider to accommodate hips, not waists.
All that said, I do buy yoga pants one size up. And this is where spending $$ makes a difference – the more expensive yoga pants have serious compression, that hides the bulges.
^that’s me. The higher the waistband, the less of muffin top I have.
