A local Middle School Principal was arrested in his MS office after selling drugs in a drug sting. They haven’t found any evidence that he was selling to students, but that’s the only good news.

A teacher from my old middle school was just arrested for drug-related charges, too! She was caught when she distributed marijuana to two undercover detectives.

How bizarre! I ought to go look for a link now in the local papers, since my only source so far is a story published in my school’s own newspaper.

We have new information about the Waverly man arrested for grabbing, yelling at and throwing a 10-year-old boy to the ground. According to the Waverly School District Superintendent, Peter Girolamo is a teacher at two elementary school

Girolamo has been teaching in the Waverly school district for 12 years. He’s currently a gym teacher at Chemung and Lincoln Street Elementary. The superintendent says he is aware that Girolamo was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment. He would not comment on what the district’s doing about it, if anything.

The incident happened last month at the little league field on Liberty Street. According to the police report, Girolomo says the 10-year-old shoved his 6-year-old son first after being warned several times, to stop.

Mike Hillman the son of the 10-year-old says he wasnt there when his son was shoved. He says he just wants all the facts to come out about what really happened.

The facts are that 7 people made statements, to my knowledge to the Waverly police department saying this gentleman didn’t just shove my child but picked my child up and made statements to him, and then through him to the ground and that’s uncalled for, period," said Hillman.

Girolomo is expected to appear in court next week. If convicted of endangering the welfare of a child, police say Girolomo could face up to a year in jail. If convicted of harassment in the second degree he could face up to 15 days in jail. Girolamo is due back in the Village of Waverly Justice Court, August 9th at 4:30.

when i was in kindergarten, my best friend’s teacher was arrested for selling crack. the worst part? at one point, she couldn’t find her stash and patted down each of the students to see if any of them had taken it.

The former assistant principal with whom I worked decided he missed the children so much that he returned to the classroom as a music teacher. He is currently in prison after being arrested in October 2001 for child pornography. While out on bail for a very short period of time, he made arrangements through an FBI informant to “purchase” two young children with whom he planned to have sex and then dispose of. Needless to say he will be in prison for many years to come. Every time I think of the horrible things he has done, I get a bit of pleasure knowing he is cowering in a corner somewhere while some big cell mate “reminds” him of his crimes.
