Midterm Grade Report Waived by Cornell

DS applied for Regular Decision at Cornell. His application indicates that the midterm grades report was waived. His high school is on a regular semester schedule. Why would Cornell waive the midterm report if it is required for RD applicants?

He can email the counselor and ask.

It would seem, one way or another, they have enough info to make a call.

Or maybe they were hacked because yes they are required and I would still send.

It’s not out of realism in today’s day and age that hacking and bad behavior (fake emails) could happen. Unlikely but nothing would shock me anymore.

But to know what happened, he can ask.

@momofboiler1 Do you have any insight through your connections as a Cornell alum and former interviewer?

My understanding is that Cornell only waives midterm grades if the high school is on a trimester schedule. If your son’s school is on a semester schedule, that would be unusual for them not to require the midterm grades.

Personally I’d suggest your son talk to their guidance counselor and if first semester grades were strong, just send them.
