Midwest & East Coast cold blast stories?

Hope everyone is doing ok with the winter blast. I can’t imagine how cold it must feel! We never get those kind of temperatures out here on the West Coast. Can the heater in the house even keep up? There is a 80 degree difference between the outside temperature (lets say 20 below) and even 60F inside.

Anyway, I thought I’d ask if anyone has stories they’d like to share about the cold blast.

yep, just saw the duplicate thread ;-(

I don’t see how to delete this one though

We are in 115 year old house north of Chicago. The thermostat is set at 72. The hot water radiator currently is keeping the house at 65. I expect it to go down further tonight as yesterday we started the night at 71 and it’s supposed to be nearly as cold tonight -21 vs -23.

The worst has been the dog. A 13 pound fluff who couldn’t tolerate being outside more than 30 seconds (even with musher’s secret on his paws and his “coat” on). He cut his tongue got “stuck” trying to lick the snow and then the back door. The bleeding stopped quickly but it was copious. :frowning: I can’t get him to use the potty pad on the back porch to save my life. At this point, he’s going to sleep in the bathroom and I expect a mess to clean up in the morning.

Praying we don’t have flooding this weekend when we near 50! Quite the temperature shift!
