Midwest State Testing ACT Discussion

so yeah…guess he WAS employed by canadian government, but wasn’t a commercial employee…for some reason, i don’t remember that as a choice…but eh, oh well now…

How’d you find that?

Btw, I wasn’t saying win about being right, just about how you actually found that whole passage haha

i was looking up monty woods on google…typed in “monty woods canadian great smokey mountains” (Exactly like that) and i found this article lol…wierd.

so was it right…lol? i mean commercial does not make sense, but i cant remember if that was even a choice or not!

ughh…i screwed this whole thing up! i had a 29 in april and was hoping for a 30+…doubt that ill even get a 28 this time.

okay yeah, its actually very easy to find the passages if you remember the titles of the book in the intro…so next test, we should remember that so its easier to check answers…

but it also sayes that there were more than 80 scientists working on this…so it was certainly a small group…i seem to agree w/ the commerical one to now…idk…this questions seems to go both ways…w/e

oh ya, wat was the answer to the jazen one…something about “few ppl care about their environment” was wat i guessed. he was talking about how we shouldn’t let nature be on its own but in fact interfere to make it better

WHO’S TAKING PSAE TESTS TOMORROW (illinois)?

What do you guys know about it?

workkeys or some ****… doesnt really matter, chill

holy **** i found the passage to the mama one too…lol. it soo easy to find them, just type in key words from the passage in google and it shows up like as first or second option…now i can check what i remember…

hardworker, post some you figured out for the res of us plz

Well the mama passage is called “More Room” by JUDITH ORTIZ COFER…you can google search it, i found teh passage in google books option (it was like 5th option on the search pg)

[more room JUDITH ORTIZ COFER - Google Search](<a href=“more room JUDITH ORTIZ COFER - Google Search”>more room JUDITH ORTIZ COFER - Google Search)

i can’t find the labor union passage…

he worked for the canadian government but not as a bioprospecter or whatever the word was…it was a trick… the Except answer was “he worked for the canadian governtment as a bioprospector”…he was an investigator in canada or something

Anyone else find this test easier because it was at their own high-school?

^yes

Does anyone else remember a writing question about the chidl labor photographer, about the power of his photos?
one choice was something like, he understood the photos would be useless unless they had this caption
and the other was, he used stark captions to heighten the power,
anyone?

I put the answer where it said he used concise answers to hieghten the power…i think that was it

i chose the power one

oh and that reminds me:
the organizational essay? the person describes his desk as a jumble with pens and paper and junk everywhere. it asks if the description was necessary?
I was stuck on that one because it was obviously rhetorically effective, and since that was a choice thats what I put. but i was also told not to pay attention to rhetoric, just choose the most concise one?

^yea i put something like that too

so does anyone else think that they GREATLY underestimated the test?
I felt so stupid after taking it. sigh…retake…:'(
