Midwest State Testing ACT Discussion

i said it was important…don’t reember the remaining wording of the answer choice

yeah ^ agreeed. i said it was important it added needed detail or something

yeah i’m really nervous because i wanted to get at least a 30 but i don’t think it happened!!
& yeah i wasn’t so worried about it but now i’m 100% sure i’ll be taking it again in june and
god forbid i do badly on that, then i’ll probably end up taking it in september too! =/

Does anyone know if it’s easier to get a higher score on this test since everyone in the state took it? I’ve got a 28 on every ACT I’ve taken, hoping for a 30.

^ Pink, im in the same boat. No worries, we’ll rock the june one…

I hope =(

And lostsimpson, yeah it COULD be easier, cause the curve might be better…who knows… :/

if i get my scores b4 june test…im takin june too…apparently, it has been said that state tests have better curves cuz more dumb ppl are required to take it…this one guy on CC always got 31 on national tests but got 35 on state tests…so have some hope for the curve

Hopefully I was right and this will clear some stuff up.

For the reading one with what her house wasn’t, it was “something chiffron”. For the hot spots one, it was that their composition was of soil and elevation or something, it was right in the text. The guy wasnt a commercial worker. The group of scientists was limited.

Writing: For the question with the pens and cluttered junk, i kept it because I felt that it was necessary to get to know the type of writer, and since the purpose was to tell a story (last question), i just kept it.

Math: The ruler one was 97. You get (1 through 8)/8 inches for every inch (8 numbers) times 12. Then add the 0/8 (one figure) (8*12+1) = 97.
One of the Triangle proofs : [ImageShack - Image Hosting :: 96802865.jpg](ImageShack - Best place for all of your image hosting and image sharing needs) for Moose91.

Science: Ratio decreases. (600/15) > (600/19). For the WdWd cross, it was (3/16). Refraction was Red, Yellow, Blue (n was speed of light in air divided by speed of light in substance (higher speed in substance is a lower n; speed of all is constant in air [i hope and assume]; when they hit the prism the n values were 1.5, 1.7, 1.9 or roughly that for red, yellow, and blue respectively. So in decreasing order, the speed of them in a substance is as n increases: red, yellow blue.) For the spherical asteroid one, Scientist one would say they had a great enough mass to make gravity turn them into spheres. Last question was when freezing point and solubility curve meet. One with pictures had to do with states of matter. It was solid KI in a solution; was like grey with black clumps. The the Mercury and Venus one I put that it would affect scientist one because he talked about how telescopes aren’t strong enough to reach out to measure the TPOs, but who knows.

EDIT: Quote from posted passage: “Over time, 20 research plots should grow into 200 or more, carefully chosen by elevation and soil type to represent the entire park.”

wow fuse1921…thanks…i agree on all ur answers

smarty, you won’t get your score before the june test registration deadline. you will probably have to test standby for june, or you can just register now and commit to taking it no matter what.

I’m not sure about the curve. I think that Illinois is ahead of the national standard…because for my SAT math scores, I got a 740. That was in the 98% percentile nationally, but 88% in the state (crazy).

I’m not too worried about my score because I gave up on the ACT after we took the PLAN, lol. I’ll just stick with the sat

Our proctor said that we will more than likely not be getting our scores by the registration deadline

what was the answer for the matrix problem?

thanks fuse, any others u remember?

I agree with urs, and i know from ur post, I def got a couple wrong

But, wow a four pt increase! Hopefully that remains the case here too… :/

well, then no june for me…september/october it is…i have a 31 from a previous test so i may settle w/ that…who knows

illinois is a smart state…sweet

the matrix was row*column
with the correct corresponding numbers

matrix I got long x tall (# of people per score x score)

I still don’t understand the triangle one.

I put III only because if you have 6 and 6 x sqrt 2, the other side has to be 6. The thing is, I don’t believe it was asking for a right triangle, just any triangle. So doesn’t that make the first two options possible in a way?

I’m not even sure what I put, I think the letter was B but that was because I came back to it with one minute left and started typing matrices in my graphing calculator.

I think the triangle one was 5, 6, 12 because don’t the two smaller sides of any triangle have to be more than the longest side?

i think the matrice one was E…and i agree w/ lostsimpson on the triangle one.
