Midwest State Testing ACT Discussion

Matrix one was E: Like [3,4,5,5,8][tall one].

The triangle one tested the first rule of triangles. Say you have a triangle with sides x, y, z. Where x < y < z. The rules are that x>z-y and z < x+ y. This is because if the shortest side isnt long enough to breach the difference between the two longer ones at the smallest angle possible ( 1 x 10^-9999), then it wont connect and it wont be a triangle. The same logic applies where it is necessary that the longest side be less than the length the two shortest sides make at amost a 180 degree angle. Its alot simpler if you draw it.

Haha, btw, I have terrible memory unless there is a trigger. So, I can probably answer any question that you ask but I can’t personally remember any questions, haha.

do they curve the act like they do the sat?

^yup, agreed. Doesn’t the triangle one deal with the triangle inequality therom?

ari, yeah i think they do. So, we may have an advantage on this one since EVERYONE, regardless of their academic background, will be taking the exam…

How does the writing section factor into your score?

I’m just wondering how much I can fail the science section and still do well lol

theyoungboi

The error you made was that the question asked for the triangle that was not possible. The triangle that was 5, 6, and 12 was not possible while the other two were. You were right in your thinking, it just sucks when you miss the question for something stupid like an EXCEPT. I hate that haha.

Writing does not count for alot of colleges.

I thought writing counts on most of the top colleges.

Most of the top colleges are not a lot of the colleges, haha.

in the english passage about the photographer, one sentence was something along the lines of “Herrick was a freelance photographer, he documented the lives of working children in photos”

with “in photos underlined”. One answer was omit. I wasn’t sure if it would be redundant to leave in the “in photos” since it seemed to clarify how the children’s lives were documented, despite the fact that it had already mentioned that Herrick was a photographer.

i put omit

omit definitely

i took it in TN
and i thought it was actually a lot harder than the national act
well all of the sections except english…
did anyone else think so?

Yes reading seeemed ahrder but math was easier. English was usual and sceince was ok till the last passage! ■■■!

I’ve never taken an ACT before so I cant compare it, but I though math/english were really easy, reading I was pressed on time, and science was an absolute joke, I’d be surprised if I got above 30 on science lol

^
I Agree…I took it on the 4th and it seemed much easier overalll…especially the science

Can someone put the answers of the last science passage if they remember?

can we cancel those scores?
seriously i think i did awful :(

Thanks for the help fuse! from your post a couple of pages back…
One more:
English- The question where it asked "All I’ve done is (grew up/grow up) something along those lines. Anyone else remember this one?

Ya i think it was grow up
