Midyear grades

What impact do midyear grades play in the admissions process? Suppose I am taking two college courses and 5 AP courses and I have an A in every course but English, how big of an impact would that play if in the prior three years I had all A/A- and 2B+s

bump…

senior year GRADES are not that big a deal in your case. The reason senior year is important is the COURSE RIGOR: showing that you are still taking hard courses. The grades aren’t that significant as like, junior year. you’re golden.

Pure stupidity.
Senior year midterm is just as important as one semester of junior year.

^Exactly. They look to make sure you’re maintaining not only course rigor but top grades.

The exception would be schools with EA/ED (irrelevant to Princeton admissions), where decisions are made before midyear grades. In that case, they would just make sure there hasn’t been a dramatic dropoff in grades.

Exactly. Thank you for enlightening others.

That being said, if you have all As and one B (I’m assuming not a C or lower; you didn’t explicitly say) in English, it’s probably not gonna keep you out.

How about a B+ 1st semester in Calc AB last year and a mid-B in Physics C this year, but As in everything else throughout high school?
