I got a few questions regarding MidYears and Diplomas.

I go to a very competitive NYC HS and I have a transcript average of 2.6. I got accepted to one out of state school, PSU Erie. I got deferred from SUNY Stony Brook and Hofstra University. I also applied to SUNY Buffalo, CUNY Baruch, Pace University, and St. Johns.
I’m a Business, Finance Major.
My SAT Scores are Math:640, Reading:440, and Writing:460.
On my MidYears, I got a 3.576 GPA.
I’m taking one AP, Statistics.

Now on to the bad news, NY requires students to take Regents. There are three different forms of diplomas, Local Diploma, Regents Diploma, and Advance Regents Diploma. To get the Advance Regents Diploma you need to pass, English, Math A, Math B, Foreign Language, Global, US History, and two Science Regents.

I’m not good in Science at all. In fact, the main reason my GPA is so low is because of Science. I usually get D’s in all my Science classes. Other classes such as Math and English helps bring up my GPA. This year, I’m not taking any Sciences.

I have every Regents required to get the Advance Regents Diploma except for one more Science. I’m very disappointed because I know that I was drawing a vector correctly away from passing and not having to worry about this.

I’m very happy that the Colleges waiting for my MidTerms will see that I went up but at the same time, they will see that I’m having trouble passing a Science Regents and might not get the Advance Regents Diploma.

What kind of effect will my Science Regents troubles and the fact that I might not get a Advance Regents Diploma have on my Application?

Do you think I can get in Stony Brook, Pace, Baruch, Buffalo, Hofstra, and St. Johns? (Based on MidTerm Report, GPA, SAT, and Regents/Diploma)

Will the College care if I can’t get the Advance Regents Diploma and have to settle for just the Regents Diploma?

I think I can still take it once more in June, but is it really worth it to take it again since most of the Colleges will have already made a decision.

Thank You!
