MikeRoweWorks Foundation--Scholarships for the Trades--Anybody know anything about this?

Does anybody know anything about this organization?

It purports to give scholarships to people going into the trades. The website doesn’t seem to have an application, though.

it’s hard to tell if it’s legit or if it’s something vaguely political and not a real scholarship.

It was certainly legit at one time, not sure if the organization is still giving scholarships though. I would contact the foundation and see if the program is still active.

Just about everywhere in the country you can apply for apprentiships to local unions: carpenters, electricians, pipefitters, elevator technicians, etc. Free training while you learn on a well paid job. My son just started in the pipefitters union. Different unions accept applications at different times of the year. Around her the electricians accept apps in Oct, pipefitters in Jan., etc. I know the MA state unemployment office has a good handle on when apps are accepted and the process, and will assist with that even if you are not unemployed.YOu can also google. If you go the apprentiship route, you want to have a sponsor. Someone who is already in the union, who owns a company that hires union workers, a politician, etc.
