Very amusing.

Personally, I detest the expression “baby bump.” :)

I have the same peeve. I was the only one pregnant at our house. DH never has been pregnant.

Ironic. No one said this 50 years ago. I can’t cite a source, but I’m pretty sure “We’re pregnant” started as a way for hands-on modern dads to contrast themselves with old-fashioned, hands-off, mom-does-all-the-work kinds of dads. A shortcut for saying, “This is my kid too, and I’ll be changing diapers and walking the baby at night just as much as mom will.” I think it was also used to signify a Lamaze-type dad instead of a waiting room dad, and that modern women said it as much as the men, because that was the kind of husband they wanted/expected.

I suppose those meanings have been lost over the years. Language is weird.

I think it’s sweet. Hubby (hopefully) does share in the woes and often in the weight gain. Baby bump is a weird one for me though. But then I also detest the skin tight “maternity” clothes. When I was pregnant it was all about loose fitting flowy things. I really don’t want to see the outline of your ginormous tummy and your popout belly button. Especially at work…

Every morning when I see Savannah Guthrie, I think, "Is it just me? Why isn’t she wearing looser clothes Then I wonder why I mind. I just think it looks uncomfortable, and unnecessary .

It has always bugged me too. I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Baby bump is a term for those people who only look pregnant from the front at 8 months

Why should a pregnant lady cover up her pregnancy - is it something to be ashamed of? A fat behind is nothing to be proud of, and yet many seriously overweight people walk around in skin-tight pants and no one really pays attention.

Oh, people pay attention. There’s a whole file of Wal-Mart shopper photos because of that. Not to mention the new Baby Got Back video that went viral.

We picked up “baby bump” from the Brits.

Baby bump officially made the dictionary for the first time this year. <a href=“Merriam-Webster Adds Selfie, Hashtag And Baby Bump To Dictionary - CBS Philadelphia”>http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2014/05/19/merriam-webster-adds-selfie-hashtag-and-baby-bump-to-dictionary/

I liked saying “we’re pregnant” – this was a baby WE wanted, WE made, WE would raise together.

on a comedy show…

I don’t like “we’re pregnant”. Every time I hear a guy say that, all I can think is “Oh, so are you going to be pushing half the time? Did you get half of the morning sickness, the kicks, the gas, the heartburn, the weight gain?”

“We’re having a baby” is fine with me.

The skin tight clothes don’t bother me, I just can’t figure out how those are comfortable. If/when I get pregnant, I fully intend on using that as an excuse to wear oversized and super comfortable clothes

My son and I heard someone say we’re pregnant the other day. I looked at my son, He’s rolling his eyes and I was saying how idiotic. Then I went on to tell him we have the easy part.

Don’t like “we’re pregnant” either. And I still can’t get used to seeing those tight maternity clothes. It is not that I think women should hide their pregnancies, but we all don’t really need to see that pop-out belly button. Your skin already feels super tight and uncomfortable–so why put another layer of “skin-tight” clothes on top of that? Glad I had my kids–all 8 of them–in the days of loose and comfy maternity clothes.

I wouldn’t mind it if guys shifted just a bit to “we’re expecting”. Both parents can be expecting a baby but only one is actually pregnant.

I don’t like it when people refer to fathers as " babysitting" when they take care of their own kids.

^^^

My mom would say that to me and I would remind her that dads do not babysit their own kids. ugh!

I prefer that dads say that “we’re expecting a baby.” They are NOT pregnant. My H does not have bikini-cut scars from my C-sections.

I was reminded of this thread when the parent recently posted a complaint about Swat’s aid…
"did not offer my family enough aid for us to attend. "

lol…the family was never going to attend.
