Miller Analogies Test

Is it easier than GRE? Can I take it somewhere else if there are no testing centers in my country?

i’ve heard that it is harder than the gre

Not necessarily harder but different. It requires excellent command of vocabulary and an ability to think logically given that command of words and their meaning. It’s short, does not include any computational math and has been around a long time. Frankly I am suprised that some grad schools still require it.

What is it?

To some it may be easier and to some it may be harder. It depends on where your strength areas lie.

DRab it is a series of analogies such as dark:murky as light:______ and then a series of four choices. You have to pick one of the four choices that best reflects the relationship in the first pair. I forget exactly how many of these analogies there are on the test–somewhere between 50 and 100 I think. Some are easy, some are quite tricky.

wait, so can you substitute this for the GRE?

No you can’t substitute the Miller’s for GRE’s but some grad programs require the Miller’s and the GRE’s. There may be some programs where only the Miller’s is required but I don’t know that for sure.

Yes, there is at least one; my mother’s library degree only called for Millers Analogy. You can’t choose which to take, though - the university will tell you specifically what they need.
