Minimum age to take the GRE?

Is there an age requirement for the GRE or can anybody take it provided that they can pay the fee?

I’m 16 and I’d like to give the test a whirl sometime next year.

NO age requirement.

Question is…why would you “give the test a whirl”? Your time and effort can be better spent on … so many other things…

Why would you want to pay $130 to give it a whirl? even if you get 800 on all sections, it’s not gonna be valid by the time you apply for grad school. *** is wrong w/ you? you should be out gettin laid not thinking about grad school.

Heh, my physical attributes and general reclusiveness prevent me from ‘getting laid’.

Standardized tests and academics are all I have.

While I won’t judge your desire to try it out (or tell you what other time wasting things you “should be doing”), I will suggest that you spend the time now focusing on undergrad admissions. Learn an extra language or two (great for undergrad and grad admissions), and if you’re dying to focus on GRE get some study books for it (but keep in mind that by the time you really take it in 6 years it will most likely be a completely different test).

dude, you gotta have better things to do then taking GRE for fun… seriously, nobody cares about GRE anyways. take my words, networking is a much more important skill than test taking skills. now that everything is commercialized (yes, science is a form of business), no eccentric genius will survive long enough to produce anything useful. if you really want to make a name for urself, get plastic surgery or something and fix your reclusiveness… and man getting laid is much more important than std tests and academic…

GRE is worthless. If you’re really want to do something academically useful try to read up on some science and find research really early.

Now let’s say the std tests are a result of the getting laid part…

huh? what do you mean?

Yeah gotta say, no one is going to give a crap about your GRE scores… Since for grad school, they REALLY don’t matter that much (you just have to get above a certain level to demonstrate your general abilities and that’s it).

std test can mean a lot of things…

Taking the GRE for fun is like taking a stroll on some hot coals just to “relax.”

If you want to give the GRE a “whirl” why not just do a simulated computer practice test? Why pay $130 for the real test?

merper — hahaha. :stuck_out_tongue: I didn’t think of it that way.

STD tests eh?

haha thats funny…

It seems like somebody needs a bit of external validation.

I’m reclusive and I still get laid.

And I’ll tell you what, sex is more fun than sitting in a grey room reading some of the most boring essays of all time. Really, I’ve experienced both.

I prefer sex.

Not to mention they will probably change the test about 10 times before you will actually need it

submit your perfect GRE scores to colleges to impress them.

Just take the free practice test on the ETS website. It’s basically the same thing. Then send the $130 to me.
