Minimum Square Footage of a Mansion?

I was just pondering that idea randomly, woke up from a weird dream about a block of huge mansions.

So I was thinking, how many square feet does a large home have to be to be considered a mansion?

3000? 5000? 10000? Let’s see if we can come to a consensus.

there probably isn’t a limit on this.
there are always things called mini-whatever:

I’d say at least 10000.

I’d 15000 sq ft.

I see hundreds of 7000 sqft homes as I drive around so I’d say it needs to be ATLEAST double that.

I second the 15 000.

I was going to say about 5000 sq ft. but maybe 7500 or so.

^Uh, no! (ten char)

All depends on where you live. Where I lived in NY, the largest house in the city (small city) was about 5,000 square feet. That was a mansion there but probably wouldn’t be considered one in other places.

6000+ or 8000+ or 10000+ square feet, depending on the quality of the interior.

High quality interior=6000+ would qualify as a mansion
Mediocre quality interior=8000+ would qualify as a mansion
Poor quality interior=10000+ would qualify

Where I live in TX nothing would be considered a mansion unless its 15000 sqft plus, I have about 5 or 6 friends with 10000sqft houses, mine is only about 3000 but the prices of houses is sooo much cheeper than anywhere else I’ve seen. It wouldn’t be unreasonalble to find a 7000-8000 sqft house for around a million buck. That being said about 5 miles from my house there is a 50,000 sqft mansion thats for sale for 42,000,000 big ones!!

Well … if it’s in a city, I’d say 5,000. Suburb: 8,000. Rural: HUGE. Like, 15k+
