Minnesota Hockey Hair

I follow the high school hockey tournament simply for the hair awards since 2011. These guys put some serious effort into their looks. I am linking to an news article where the 2017 video is at the bottom of the page. You can google for other years’ awards on youtube.

Any impressive hair sports in your area?

While I’m on the West Coast, Minnesota is home and so we see this every year. DH very happy as his alma mater won this year. The hair is hilarious…some of their moms must pray for the end of the season. Watch the video. While it’s made for fun…every view helps benefit hockey for vets and different ability players.

@gosmom The narrator’s accent is a thing of beauty. Doesn’t that just take you back to grad parties in the garage?

That’s some sweet lettuce. Land of 10,000 Locks. Minneflowta,

Some of those guys look like they’re 30!

@Snowball City you betcha!

Thanks for the share - does the winner get sculpted in butter?

Nope. Butter is reserved for the Dairy Princesses

No, but you have sparked some ideas in me. Wouldn’t the guys be great as ambassadors for the Crashed Ice event in St Paul?

Crashed Ice is a twisting ice course with drops that is about 1200 feet long -obviously done on skates. It starts at the St Paul Cathedral. It draws almost 100,000 people.

I had no idea that Ice Cross was a thing let alone something that would draw competitors from around the world. Or do they just mean Canada?

Good question. I have nothing to do so I looked it up. In the top ten, 7 were US or Canada. The other top ten place winners were from France, Austria, and Switzerland.

edited to add: I can’t find the women’s results.

I am disappointed in the lack of hair flow. Must be a very different crowd. http://www.redbullcrashedice.com/en_INT/athletes

Love the State Tournament and the hair awards. There is nothing like it!

Awesome. Thanks for the link. Son just got his first haircut in 6 months after the hockey banquet, so very appropriate for our home.

It’s spring(ish) in the midwest so now it’s time for all of the LaxBros to step up their flow games!

And not to thread hijack but let’s not forget the best lax names:

You mean Lacrosse isn’t just the name of a city in Wisconsin?!

Edited to add: OMG those names!! They make PG Wodehouse’s names seem normal.

What’s funny, and a little sad, to me, is that originally lacrosse’s roots were anything but prep-school. I went to a prep school where we loved to play lacrosse, but the team stars usually had less elaborate names, and were scholarship kids from nearby Seneca reservations. Lacrosse got played in little towns all over Ontario and Quebec, too, with Iroquois kids and hockey kids playing box lacrosse on ice-less hockey rinks.

Sometime in the last month I watched a documentary about lacrosse and box lacrosse made by a native American show. I can’t find it but I found this:

I found it on Native Report https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIqXlowpsR8
