Minnesota??

I was wondering, what’s the atmosphere and environment like? I’m use to a crowded city, and I know it’s mostly rural out there. Also, (not to be racist) do many Black people live there? I heard that the Minnesota can be very racist. Is this true?

I know that Carleton is actively recruiting students of color, but can’t persosnally answer your questions from direct experience. I do believe that the campus life/experience is considered liberal and friendly, but an extremely small town environment.

You may want to contact the Multicultural Affairs office on campus with your questions and concerns. They’ll probably respond with “public relations” type answers, but could request that they hook you up with an undergraduate student who hopefully can give you the uncensored '411.

BTW, you’re going to run into some level of racism anywhere you go to school, even at what is considered a “safe place” like an HBCU (i.e. black-on-black hate games and off-campus community hatred). Don’t let any of that run your life or ruin your college experience.
