Minor - public health or biomedical research

How competitive to apply these two minors? What are the acceptance rate? What is the average GPA of accepted students? Is it too late to apply in junior year?

The Minor in Biomedical Research has about a 50% acceptance rate per quarter when I last asked an instructor in the Minor a couple years ago, although I hope I’m not confusing it with the acceptance rate of something else for which I asked. The Biomedical Research Minor accepts students who, through a written application, performance in an introductory class, and interview, are a match for the program. There isn’t a quota for acceptance, and numbers and competition may change according to the applicant pool. Consider that there were 165 students enrolled as of Spring 2013. I think you need at least a 3.0 GPA to apply, and you have to maintain that during the program.

The last chance to apply for the Minor is the Fall Quarter of your 3rd year as an undergraduate, and you must have taken or be enrolled in a introductory class to be eligible to apply. If you’re going to be a junior in the Fall, enroll in an introductory course for the Minor to be eligible to apply, as it’ll be your last chance.
