<p>Can U elaborate? Do you mean you were enticed to apply to school “X” because of an outreach program of theirs? What would then be in this “letter”?</p>
<p>Yes, we need more information. There are many mass mailings made to URM candidates, what exactly does the letter say?</p>
<p>I got letters from two different Ivy schools encouraging me to apply because they said I looked like a good candidate & then one of them also emailed me through their minority recruitment program telling me to apply. I’m just wondering if these letters are mass mailed to minority students or if they are more selective and have some meaning in terms of chance of admission.</p>
<p>They are marketing tools and used somewhat liberally. However, it’d be safe to assume that other markers exist that made them WANT to send you the letters in the first place. However, the receipt of the letter itself won’t have any bearing</p>
