I know a girl who changed in her 3rd year… Twice. Unfortunately engineering students don’t have that luxury.

I know many students who transferred out of SEAS after their first year. I work with all of the first years in CS101 so it’s usually not a surprise when someone tells me they’re CLAS-bound. Everything from environmental science to math to politics (2 of those I know!!). Just take your first year and if you want to switch you can do it after that. You’ll have your CLAS science requirements done at least! At least you’re not trying to go CLAS to SEAS, that adds a year on to your graduation time!! Also, I know the majority of students who, even with a rough first year, stay in SEAS and end up doing just fine (or graduating at least, bemoaning or not). You’ll figure out what is right for you.
