Miracle story

My friend from Finland just sent me his stats in an email! I can’t freakin believe it. I would swear he is lying about this stuff, but I know for a fact he isn’t. He got in!

Finland born and raised… holla
SAT: 1140 (640M, 500V)
SAT II: English writing(510), Math IC(600), Korean with Listening(410)
AP Classes: Korean (2), Calculus (4), Euro (3)
IB classes: Art History
GPA: weighted: 3.122, unweighted: 3.001
Rank: 44/112

Activities: Karate, Varsity Soccer, Math Club member, Key Club (club representative)

Awards: Most Changed in Four years (senior personalities in yearbook), School academic award in Korean, Local Kiorni Math Competition (3rd)

Essays: Ok. One was about a trip to Korea and how I fell in love with a girl named Miki. She broke my heart, but it was a good essay topic

Rec: Korean teacher wrote a stellar piece. Math teacher was ok.

Other: Legacy, Father is a government employee in Finland

Legacy…? ;)

That sounds like BS to me…

what the hell was his catch?

lol…wow…sats- avg…grades- below avg…then wat the hell does he/she have?

I`m just wondering. Is there even such class as AP Korean?

I don’t believe it…that just proves how random the admission process is…-_-

haha the AP Korean should give it away. The guy is fake. And how the hell can someone get the School Academic Award in Korean w/ a 410 on SAT II korean!!! lol and the Korean teacher wrote a stellar peice…yea right

not surprising… they took im just cause he is finnish : adds a lot to their stats etc…
at info session they sayed they let in guy with 1000 sat cause he was international… to all you rd’ers out there, go get urself a canadian passport so ull get in…

I believe there is no AP Korean…

And I doubt the adcoms would appreicate an essay on a love interest…this is just crap.

I feel a lot crappier for being rejected. :o

J/K, I feel fine. I’m still kind of bitter that I won’t be able to join you guys drinking in the West End on those boring Thursday nights though, I would have reall enjoyed hanging out with you people. CARMEN dorms are where its at.

i don’t know, man~~ that doesn’t sound too convincing to me.

i know that some scholo explicitly states that people with SAT lower than 1350 should not apply.

although columbia didn’t say that, but i think they’ve got to have some knid of bottom line.

His SAT score is understandable. A foreigner scoring an 1140! not bad!

But the only thing that makes me doubt the post is the AP Korean. There is no AP Korean, so I just guess this is a post to aggrevate the rejected kids!

Note, this was sent to me, and I am not posting it to be funnt or hurt feelings. I don’t belive it either. I looked too, and there is no AP Korean. I don’t know what he was talking about. He did get in though, I promise. Maybe he said Japanese, but I’m pretty sure I copied and pasted what he said. Weird. At lease we know there’s hope for everyone.
