<p>On Monday, the President is coming to speak at my school, however I have my internship on that day. Would it be a valid excuse to miss work because I’m going to this occasion? I didn’t give my supervisor advanced notice because it was just announced over the weekend. How should I handle this? I plan on asking her if I can come in on Friday instead to make up the day I missed. Also should I text her to let her know? I’m not sure if she checks her work email on the weekends and she did give me her number for if I had anything coming up.</p>
