Missing Malaysian Plane--2 aboard with stolen passports

A more competent Malaysian government may not have saved lives for THIS flight but might have been able to direct resources to the correct area for searching instead of wasted efforts and MAY have helped recover the plane, which still has NOT been recovered. It is sad there has been so much incompetence on display for the world stage, which only made things worse.

Not many countries in the world are competent in dealing with disasters the first time.

If we was competent then we would have prevented the WTC attack in 2001 after the 1993 bombing.

If the China government was competent then a lot of Chinese people would have been saved in the 2008 earthquake.

If the Japanese government was competent then the 2011 tsunami would have been better handled.

“If we was competent then we would have prevented the WTC attack in 2001 after the 1993 bombing.”

… those were not similar attacks

Malaysia does not get a pass for letting search teams continue searching for a week in the Gulf of Thailand when they knew the plane went the other way.

Malaysia also does not get a pass for bungling their domestic investigation. The didn’t begin investigating the pilots until a week after the plane went missing. And more than 2 weeks after, they are being beseeched by U.S. investigatiors to ask the pilot’s wife a few questions.

Both Chinese government and Malaysian government provided conflicting info about the course of flight 370 during the first days after its disappearance. China said its satellite captured an object of 24 meter and 22 meter near Vietnam water on March 9. Both Malaysia and Vietnam searched for two days and found nothing. China later retracted that the release of the image was a mistake. China actions were very suspicious to me.

Look, i get it you hate china. But by int’l aviation convention, it is the country where the flight originated that is responsible for leading the investigation. In any case, MH was also the national flag carrier & was partially owned by the Malaysian gov’t. It is Malaysia’s responsibility OFFICIALLY.

Plane never entered chinese airspace/radar. China has no governing authority in this investigation. China also didn’t track the plane by satellite-- that was Inmarsat, a british company. So I really don’t understand why you are so keen to assign responsibility to china and absolve malaysia.

How do you know? China ships monitor Southeast Asia all the time. They would not tell the world about its military presence and operation in Asia.

This totally contradicts what China said. China released satellite images of some object and gave its coordinates.

I did not say China is responsible for searching the plane. I said China is the reason that Asian countries don’t want to share navigation information.

I did not absolve Malaysia. I said Malaysia could do nothing to save the passengers.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/25/opinion/adcock-flight-370-lithium-batteries/index.html?hpt=hp_t1</a></p>

I searched and then watched this video about lithium batteries after busdrivers comments on her concern with fire.

Wow, I had no idea they were this dangerous. My spouse, who throws away nothing, has a bunch of discarded lithium batteries somewhere around the house. Time for a chat on that one.

Lithium batteries are far more dangerous than terrorists, though it doesn’t sound near as exciting. I heard about someone who actually had a fire in the cockpit from a lithium battery…from a battery in his backpack. Fortunately they were on the ground and were able to extinguish it. Make him get rid of those batteries, sax, maybe there’s a safe way to discard them!

Another weird one is 9V batteries. Who knew, loosely stored, they could start a fire when you thought they were safe in your battery drawer?

…and there goes the 9 volters. What else ya got, busdriver? I oughta be on the bag a week thread.

Sax, it is time to take a bag of goodies to a place that handles such trash…

Last time I flew, I saw a sign by the gate that passengers were limited to one laptop battery. I wonder how many flyers follow the rule?

CNN says 122 objects floating in the ocean were spotted in a satellite image…

Satellte iamges of “three suspected floating objects” do not show that China was tracking the plane.

Satellite images

Dozens of smilies and no edit function :frowning:

“and there goes the 9 volters. What else ya got, busdriver? I oughta be on the bag a week thread.”

Make sure you put tape over the terminals of the 9V batteries, so they can’t contact each other. Most importantly, you need to get rid of all your good red wine. I can give you an address where you can dispose of them. It’s really for your own safety

Really, why can’t we edit, and why did my big smiley face not show? This new format has a lot of bugs.

There used to be a litte thingy in the same corner where the smile sits, but it is activated only after you push “post comment”. Let’s see…

The “thingy” still works on my iPhone.

When I first heard of this, my assumption was that the plane crashed and that the countries involved and responsible are not going to come up with good info or the truth, but that the bottom line was that the plane had crashed in a body of water somewhere and getting the black box and other things was going to be one difficult job and maybe not happen so we never find out what exactly happened. Said so to a bunch of people who got into a huff over the statement. And so here we are after every theory and idea including alien abduction. No zebras here, just horses.

One of my concerns is that, even if they finally find the black box, there will be absolutely nothing to listen to, since everyone on board will have been rendered unconscious by some catastrophic event that happened five hours before the plane went down.

Still, they have to search for it.

I hope they will be able to tell from the wreckage they eventually pick up what happened.

The black box contains both the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder. Yes, the cockpit voice recorder will only have the last 30 min - 2 hours recorded, and if it has nothing on it will only tell us that the crew was indeed dead. The flight data recorder will have the last 17-25 hours worth of data which should prove valuable.

I didn’t know that, skieurope. Thanks.
