Missing Transfer Requiremnts

Hello Everyone,

I am planning to transfer to a bunch of UC Schools to complete my Bachelor’s degree in Economics but my target school is UC Davis. I am graduating in 2025 and planning to apply to Transfer to UC Davis for the Fall of 2026 but will be missing 1 of my required major classes due to the fact that I had to drop some classes due work conflict and financial difficulties. Could I still be accepted?

What does your transfer guidance counselor (at your CC) say?

Can you afford Davis? If you are planning on transferring in 2026, can you add that class?

Can I still apply for UC Davis if I have classes in progress

Yes, you apply while you have courses in progress and will update your Fall grades and Spring planned courses in your TAU.

All required classes need to be completed in the Spring prior to transfer so you have plenty of time to take the missing requirement.

If it is a requirement and available at your CC, then you need to take the course.

Can’t speak to Davis but similar happened to one of my daughter’s friends transferring to Cal. Cal accepted her subject to her first completing the missing credit at CC so she had to spend an extra semester at CC to do it, after that the transfer went smoothly.

So I just have to complete the required class by the spring of 2026?

Yes prior to matriculation.

If these dates are correct and not typos then you’re planning on earning your CC degree in June 2025 but want to enter Davis in Sept 2026? In that case why not wait to file for graduation until you complete the missing class sometime in the 2025-26 academic year?

Also you won’t be filling out the application for Davis this fall, you’ll do it starting in Oct 2025

For completeness I want to mention TAG ( Transfer Admission Guarantee). If you are eligible this guarantees admission to Econ. See Transfer Admission Guarantee | UC Davis and Major Requirements: College of Letters and Science | UC Davis
