Mission Accomplished!

Well, we successfully moved our daughter into her dorm at Palladium on Monday! Everything ran smoothly, so she is happily settling in to her new surroundings. Thanks everyone for their support!

OHS,

So relieved for you. The weather was in your favor on Monday after all. That is great.
How does D like Palladium? You made your big round trip the same day? Anyway, so glad it went smoothly and your D is in for one more year. :)

I’m still recovering from running around and getting geared up for Friday moving with S (last of big items). Then, fun…fun…fun…, we are still working on a water damaged apt. (damaged before Irene) along the Jersey shore that we will be moving into. Now we will have to deal with the other emergency needs along with our “opened insurance claim(s)” for the apt. Have not heard from contractor yet. Will try him again.

Thanks Evolving!

We had anticipated all kinds of aggravation moving in on Monday, but it all worked out. The round-trip of over 400 miles made it a long day, but that’s life as they say. The one glitch occured after we had finished moving everything into the room. After two hours of unpacking, connecting computers, printers, and the TV, guess what? She realized that she and her roommate had moved into the wrong room in the suite! I was flabbergasted to say the least. Her roommate had already moved in on Saturday and wasn’t there when we arrived on Monday, so we just moved everything into the other side of that bedroom–who knew? When she tried to lock the bedroom door as we left to have lunch and it wouldn’t work, she realized what had happened. Actually, she told us at that point, “I knew we had signed up for room A, but when I saw my roommate set up in room B, I just moved into that room and figured it would be ok”. Let’s just say we are letting her handle it from here on in. Housing will allow the girls to swap rooms if they all agree to do this (the other 2 roommates have not yet arrived). Since the rooms are basically identical, this would likely be just an administrative task, but if the other girls want that specific room, well, looks like my daughter and her roommate will have to move their stuff. This was an unexpected twist of events. Sigh. The good news is, she is all moved in and really likes Palladium.

Good luck with your move on Friday–keeping your sense of humor will be helpful. If that doesn’t work, I recommend White Zinfandel! Good luck also with the water damaged apartment. Nothing like lots of aggravation to keep our blood pressure up.
