Mistake in my Ivy Supplement Essays- Please help!! Deciding whether or not to resend!

Hey Guys,

After I sumbitted my supplement essay for an Ivy, I found a mistake:

“I refused to quit trying. I was convicted that if I persisted, everything would eventually change”

I thought that by saying I was convicted, I had said something along the lines of I believed. It sounded right to me because conviction means belief. However, it turns out to not make sense at all…

The essay in entirety still makes sense and the admission officers will most likely understant what I’m trying to get at. But an error is an error so should I mail in a correct version with a short explanation saying I meant to say CONVINCED to clear up the misunderstanding??

I’m afraid that if i mail it in, they’ll think I’m careless, paranoid or not confident, especially if they will not even notice the error. But if I don’t mail in the correction, I feel like the mistake is so obvious that they will have doubts about my writing abilities.

I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO, PLEASE HELP!!

That’s a tough call. Either way, it’s not going to look great on your part, but I don’t think it would kill your application completely. If you write in about it, you would also just be drawing attention to it. Honestly, they read so many of these in a day, there is a chance nobody will notice, though slight. If I were in this situation, I don’t think I would do anything- maybe just an email to the regional admissions officer asking first?

Relax - 99% of the time, the people reading your essay will catch that error. No need to bother the admission officers. They probably have more important things to worry about.

They’ll probably assume you misspelled convinced and that spell check made it convicted.

so should I just leave it??
