Mistake in teacher recommendation?

My teachers just finished their recommendations for Yale EA and I plan to send them in in the next couple of days. They both offered to show me the recommendation letter, which I know is taboo or something, but they obviously didn’t really care. So I read them, and they’re both incredible, except the teacher who doesn’t know me as well said that I’m captain of my high school soccer team, which isn’t right; I’m the captain of my club team.

What should I do? Should I let it slide and send it in as is? Steam the envelope open and white out the word “high school?” Or go back to her and ask her to change it–which I’m reluctant to do because she was so kind and sweet to write it for me and it was so great otherwise? Does it even matter–I mean, she is my Spanish teacher, and it’s not like a central part of the recommendation. It’s just mentioned in passing as part of a list of my leadership experience etc.

Oh, and as a side note: my teachers both checked “Best in my Career” for every single box on the CommonApp sheets. That looks good, right? Or does it look lazy or whatever, like they didn’t think about it or do that for everybody?

You are thinking way too far into this! Send it in as it is and feel confident in the recommendation, as I’m sure it represents you much more as a person than whether or not you captain the school’s soccer team.

The check boxes can only help. I’m sure they expect them filled towards the right side of the chart anyway, so being in the top 1% (I believe that’s what you mean) is only going to look good for you.

Good luck and best wishes getting into Yale.

^ LOL, I figured as much. I can be a little paranoid sometimes.
