Mistake on common app help!

ahhhhh i feel SO stupid. my personal statement was about my dad and our nightly dinners. on it i briefly talked about how i reacted to one of his nightly rants and mentioned an amendment. i said the amendment, scripted by his heroes, was ratified in 1788. which is wrong!! it’s 1791. the constitution was ratified in 1788 and i stupidly assumed that since some of the states didn’t ratify the constitution until a bill of rights was added, that the bill of rights would be 1788 also. gahhhhhhhhhh. what should i do? resend the essay by mail? do you think they will notice? it’s not like my essay was about history or anything, more about my relationship with my father but still ): i changed it before i sent it to the rest of the schools on my list, but still i sent this to ivy league schools. please help me. any and all advice welcome.

You can always contact the school and make them aware of the issue. They may also ask you to email them the corrected essay.

Good Luck

thanks td2belt, do you think they would notice? i hear they only spend about 5-10 minutes per application… so unless they knew the date the 8th amendment was ratified off the top of their head? but if they doooo ahhh. im so mad at myself.

Mail them the new document, theyll add it to their files without having to read/after deleting the new one. Probably. So hurry :)
