Is it a mistake to apply to Ivy Leagues as an intended math major with a flat 700 on my SAT Math? I have 800 on Math 2; I don’t know if this cancels out the SAT Math score though, especially considering there will be other (unhooked) candidates applying with 800s on SAT Math.

What are your grades in math in high school and what level have you taken through?

@albert69 I’ve got all As in math throughout high school, and have taken through AP Calculus and Statistics. I have no math-related extracurriculars, though.

In that case, I think it’s a fine idea to plan to be a math major. Now as for getting into the Ivies, I have no idea. Even with an 800 on the SAT I Math there’s no guarantee of getting in. It’s not a “mistake” - it’s the best you can do and it’s pretty darn good. Just roll with it and see what happens. With your record in math, I’m sure you will do fine in the long run. Best of luck!

SAT math is not the best indicator of math ability. Also, most colleges allow you to change majors pretty easily, so if you applied as a prospective history major with a 700 on math, you can still change majors.
