Mistake with Recs

So, yesterday, I got a little postcard that said my teacher recs for the Honors College were missing.

After about 10 minutes of staring at it with a puzzled expression and going to the Stony Brook site, I realized that I’d given my teachers the Common App rec forms and they’d sent them to the address that we’re supposed to send the Honors College forms. Uh-oh.

Now, I’m puzzled on what I should do: should I call Stony Brook and see whether they can find the recs that were sent in or should I have my teacher re-send the proper forms? Or both?

I feel so airheaded; I can’t believe I made such a silly mistake.

It’s funny how us prospective Honors students are making so many mistakes with our app. xD

If it’s just a matter of using the wrong form, I think they should be able to match up your name.

They’re going to be busy tomorrow with me recommending everyone call them, but… call them.

Chris

Butterflies, yes, I find it pretty funny too. We’re saying that we’re the brightest of the applicant pool… and then completely disproving it with our actions. I was putting together envelopes and forms for my teachers the evening that I got deferred from my ED school so perhaps my mind was slightly distracted.

Chris, thank you. I really don’t want to trouble my teachers to re-send the recs since they’ve spent so much of their time for me already. I’ll give them a call. :)

Today I called and the woman who spoke with me told me that the admissions and honors offices were seperate and that my recs probably got to the admission office by mistake… although I’m not sure how that’s possible, since I copied the address straight off the website. She suggested I call admissions and see whether they can fax them over.

I tried to contact admissions but apparently, it’s only possible to speak with them between 9 and 4 by appointment - hours that I spend in school. I don’t really know what to do, but it seems like I’ll have to bother my teachers with it. >.<

A Persona - You could always try calling during a lunch period… or ask a teacher if you can go talk to an admissions counselor, I’m sure one teacher of yours has got to be nice enough to allow you…

If only there was someone from the admissions office in this forum who you could contact for help!

Chris

Ha ha! Thanks, Chris. I sent you a PM.

Chaos - Teachers at my schools actually don’t have phones capable of calling outside the school, but I can probably call from my guidance counselor when her office isn’t too busy. Thanks for the advice.

A Persona - The guidance counselor would probably be more than happy to allow you to use the phone for that purpose. After all, that’s one of their jobs, the whole college admissions process. (Unless you have college admissions counselors at your school seperately…)
