Mistakenly applied to Computer Engg instead of Computer Science at UC Davis

Hello,
I have applied to UC Davis for admission for fall 2024. I listed “Computer Engineering” as my major, and “Mathematics and Scientific Computation” (in the College of letters and sciences) as my alternate major.

Is it too late to choose "Computer Science" as my major, instead of "Computer Engineering"? Does UC Davis grant requests for a change to the major after application has been submitted? I am concerned that Computer Engineering may have a lower admittance rate than Computer Science, as the class size is smaller. What are the chances that my alternate major may be considered if Computer Engineering is full?

UC GPA (weighted/unweighted): 4.64/4.00, decent extracurriculars and decent essays.

Thanks in advance.

Reach out to admissions…and ask the process to do so.

I don’t see anything on line.

My son is currently a freshman majoring at CE, he is taking the same classes as other CS major student this year. The beginning programming classes are basically open to only CS and CE (including CSE) majors. I think he will have no problem switching major if he insists
