Mistakes made by Financial Aid Officer

the assigned financial aid officer at my students (2) college made corrections to the FAFSA forms. In the tune of $38,777.00 causing our EFC for both students to take us out of hope for any substantial financial aid. She owned up to her mistake, but now is telling me that the financial aid that would have been offered is not gone, that is the state of NC is out of aid money due to the early filing of FAFSA. Is there any repercussion for her error?

Well, I’d contact her supervisor. I think I’d do it in writing – but have someone proofread for you (quite a few grammatical and punctuation errors in your post, and you want your request to come across without those distractions).

You should still get federal aid like Pell and loans, but the school may have given out all the SEOG and work study jobs. My daughter was told last year that sometimes additional work study money becomes available on the first few days of school because student who were awarded SW do not attend the school.

A letter may get you to the top of the line for the first available funds. Whether there are any state or school grants left is unknown.
