MIT Class of 2015 Early Action Hopefuls

Man, I didn’t realize Tron was coming out so soon. I’m really backed up on my movie watching; I haven’t even seen Inception yet! I dreamed I did, but I’m not sure if that counts.

Yay Tron! Also, yay for Tangled (the physics of the hair animation is beast)!

Also, as long as it’s not on the 18th, I’m totally fine with whatever. I do not want this ruining my vacation :P

I think the outfits look sweet! I’m dying to get [this jacket](http://www.openingceremony.us/products.asp?menuid=1&productid=27515&key=Tron+Legacy+Opening), but I just don’t feel like it’s worth $600. But maybe a birthday/MIT present… My birthday is on the 14th.

Is anyone looking into ROTC at MIT? I’m confused on how the ROTC scholarships work. I’m applying to ROTC (not ROTC at MIT), but then can I automatically use it at MIT, or does the Army only give a certain amount of scholarships to students going to MIT?

Does this mean if they don’t finish reading applications by the 20th, they just defer all remaining applications?

do you guys think that as an international early action applicant, i would be at any disadvantage since mit’s ea is designed mainly for US applicants.

International students can’t apply EA so I don’t understand the question.

^ You are not allowed to apply Early Action if you are an international student…

According to [MIT Admissions | Blog Entry: “Early Action versus Regular Action”](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/apply/early_action_versus_regular_action/early_action_versus_regular_ac.shtml)

@StevieTopSiders ;;;;; Oh my god i jizzed all over myself when i saw that jacket!!! Wow i need to clean this up. Ugh soo much everywhere…such a sexy jacket i want now!

Just found this and thought people would appreciate it

(sent the blog link since we cant link youtube videos)

[MIT Admissions | Blog Entry: “MIT History Makes MIT Spotlight!”](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/pulse/faculty_at_mit/mit_history_makes_mit_spotligh.shtml)

And not to spam, but here’s just another link that definitely hit home for me (sounded almost exactly like me xD). This will definitely make anyone who applied feel better and get through the next week or so

[MIT Admissions | Blog Entry: “Take a Load Off”](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/misc/miscellaneous/take_a_load_off_1.shtml)

I wish that helped me loss some of this anxiety, only showed me I’m not alone in my worry over this at least. I’m really really hoping that MIT follows the same pattern over the last few years, 07 and 08 received notification on the 15, 2009 received it on the 16th, and a blog appeared 5 days before that. So I doubt we will know any date at least until Friday/Saturday.

No, of course not. All EA applications are read and discussed in EA selection committee before a decision is made on them.

I don’t have (very much) inside information, but I would strongly assume EA reading is done and the admissions officers have started selection committee.

And just as a reminder for all of you, MIT will announce the date for EA decisions release as soon as is humanly possible, and the release date itself will also be as soon as is humanly possible. The reason you don’t know the date yet is that they don’t know, and the reason that they don’t know is that they’re still in the thick of discussing all of the awesome applications you guys put together.

Thanks Mollie! I’m kinda at peace with decisions now and am going to try and just enjoy my senior year as much as possible.

Bene felix ad omnia! (Good luck to all!)

December 15th. That is the decision day. Good luck to everyone.

What makes you say that?

^by faith, i’m guessing?

I just searched the site and didn’t find anything so it almost certainly is…

For MIT’s purposes, a domestic student is anyone who is a US citizen or permanent resident regardless of where they live. So what i meant was that although Im a Pakistani and have always lived in Pakistan, I was able to apply EA because Im a US resident. I was wondering whether the fact that im not a “domestic” student in the true sense of the word could harm me.

I just logged in to collegeboard and it says that MIT’s deadline for notification is Dec 20…

That seems rather late. I’m anxious enough as is!

Plenty of US citizens living/schooled abroad are admitted to MIT. Exhibit A is our own oasis!
