MIT Class of 2015 Early Action Hopefuls

Hey guys… what ever you do, don’t let a deferral get you down. I was very surprised when I got deferred–about this time last year I was already planning my Christmas card holding the TUBE with a big smile. It was not to be.

In the end, the deferral turned out to be a good thing. You find out who your true friends are really quick. Of the eight of us who got into MIT last year from my school, only one of us got in early and it was not the one with the 2400, 36, 4.0 or great ECs.

when are decisions being released? Have they decided?

I don’t think they have decided yet.

@Sabrina: Did you get admitted RD?

^Yes, she said that she did in her post.

Wow yea, I just noticed that. Reading fail on my part, haha

What does getting deferred have to do with finding your true friends?

i guess the one who doesn’t laugh at you when you get deferred?

By the way, is the tube the only way to get your acceptance notification or will it also be available online?

It is released online first, then accepted students may receive tubes.

I want a tube :(

So, I couldn’t help but notice some schools are hearing back on December 9th. Anyone think we could hear back next week as well?

They said that the results will be released about a week after they announce it on the MIT website.

OMG I GOT ACCEPTED Lol. i’m just ■■■■■■■■… wait so where do you check it? your status application/ email? what what?

any predictions as to when EA decisions will be released? Looking at past dates I’m going to guess the 13th.

That seems too early to me especially with an increase of nearly 800 applications. I am guessing Friday Dec. 17th (my birthday lol).

~6500 apps * ~30mins to read each app = 135 days of reading. The admissions staff has a lot of work I’m guessing… I wonder how they’ve adapted to the increased number of EA applicants?

Apparently by hiring more readers.

If I’m not mistaken, EA results are mailed, and not posted online, correct?

^ You’ll be able to access your EA admission results online. If you are accepted, something largish will arrive several days later via the post.

I can’t sleep after reading this thread late at night, really. I should start avoiding this lol.
