Thanks, @WorriedButNot!

Some basic info is in the official EA thread.

I can share more info over PM to preserve anonymity in the public forum.

What is the consensus (if any) on sending LOCI to MIT for deferrals?

Nope.
no LOCI.
Just the FUN form

MIT February Updates & Notes Form is an online form that is required of all students (including those admitted or deferred in Early Action), and is to be completed by you, the applicant. This form serves two purposes: to share your newest grades, and give you an opportunity to mention other updates since you submitted your application.

Who should fill it out?
Everyone! Even those already accepted in Early Action.

When should I fill it out?
As soon as possible after grades are available for the fall semester or second quarter. (If your school uses a trimester schedule, please use your first trimester grades, even if we already have them.) Please send us the form once your grades are released, OR by February 15th, whichever is earlier. The form must be submitted no later than February 15th.

Deferred also. Watched movies all Saturday. Feeling a lot readier for RD now.

Would you mind sharing what your son submitted other than updated grades? Not sure if there will be much more to say by february but S24 is contemplating submitting a music portfolio since he did not do that before…and then writing a little about what he has been doing with music…

Son’s FUN form included his 1st semester grades,
and a little essay about leadership since he made Captain of his Varsity sport team.

Good luck!

Thank you! He seems to be getting over the disappointment of getting deferred and now we know its an even longer shot at getting admitted but miracles happen! Of course he has a very very busy two weeks ahead of him with RD apps now. Hopefully good news in january with the other EA schools.

My son got into Virginia Tech last week so that’s helpful while he gets his RD applications in. Good Luck all!

Also, when is the FUN form available?

Hello, I have a question. Can anyone help? My son is applying for computer science and he is considering submitting the music portfolio of his playing piano. He has been playing piano for 12 years and is pretty good. The requirement is “Submit two recordings representing contrasting styles or periods.” However, he just realized that the two songs he gonna submit were by the same classical composer. Should he submit (not follow the rule), or just forget it? Thank you!

what exactly is the deadline for RD application? 1/3 11:59PM or 1/4 11:59PM est?
Thanks

Can anyone share a bit stats if you got an interview from MIT for an interview during RD cycle? No interview offered so far, a bit nervous.

Others may know better, but I really don’t think it’s based on stats.
DS2022 submitted his EA application and he received a interview email about 2-3 days later, so there’s no way that anyone read his application to trigger an interview.

It’s based on how many available MIT alums there are in your area.
Turns out that his interviewer lives in our neighborhood.
