Hello, do you know when the February Updates & Notes Form become available? I tried clicking the link in the tracking application page, and I was directed to MIT’s admission page… Thank you very much for your help!

I’m not sure how the Slideroom references work. If they are supposed to be totally electronic, then perhaps she should resubmit. If they are mailed and need to be manually updated in the system, just wait until the admissions office posts that they’re done sorting the mail.

It will be available at some point this month, but I don’t know exactly when.

My music teacher sent her recommendation by the mail. It can’t be done by electronic. I just wonder when the final update will be done by MIT.

Typically they’ll be done processing all the mail by something like the end of the third week of January. If you’re missing an application component at that point, you’ll be given the opportunity to have it re-submitted.

I don’t know if this is a silly question…
If someone rejected for EA, can he apply for RA?

No, an EA rejection means you can’t reapply until the following year.

EDIT: And there are no silly questions around here – as long as a question is asked sincerely, I’m more than happy to answer it (to the best of my ability).

Thank you for your answer.
Actually, my son was deferred and I was just curious.^^

What is the best way to notify MIT of planned second semester courses that I have dropped?

Also, is the february updates and notes form something that the I fill out, or my counselor? When I log into MyMIT and click on the February Updates and Notes form, I reach this page instead of a PDF. [February Updates & Notes Form | MIT Admissions](February Updates & Notes Form | MIT Admissions)

To answer your first question, I think the February Updates form would be the best vehicle.

To answer your second, the update form isn’t yet available, and you’ll fill it out yourself when it does become available (probably in late January).

Hi,
I applied EA and was deferred. I have started my own venture outside of school but did not use the Maker portfolio to give more details about it, when I submitted my EA application. I would love to include this in my February update but the Slideroom is closed now and I cannot access the Maker Portfolio. Can anyone tell me what kind of questions were there on the Maker Portfolio so I cover them in my update?
Thank you so much!

On the February Update Form, should I list my term grades, the average of my term grades, and/or my midyear exam grade? My school doesn’t do a running average of terms + exams (no semester grade), but we get 4 final term grades and two yearly comprehensive exams.

List both of your term grades. For example: Biology 95 92 or Algebra A A-

Should I list my midyear exam grade too, since it’s 10-20% of my final grade?

I don’t think that’s necessary.

Hi,

I’ve been checking my MyMIT checklist and it says my high school transcript is still missing. Would my guidance counselor have sent it through the mail, fax, or should she have received an online link? I’m going to tell her to resend, but I’m not even sure if she submitted it at all.

Did you sign a transcript release form? You must, because your counselor can’t send your transcript without your permission. If you did sign one then ask her if she already sent it. If not, have her send it as soon as possible. If she already sent it then wait till the admissions office lets you know if something from your file is missing.

@rothstem Careful not to spread misinformation. I found this on the MIT blog:

“If your transcript provides quarter grades and a midterm exam grade but no semester grade, you should list the quarter grades and the midterm exam grade.”

I suppose I should have re-read the FAQ first

Thanks for the correction! I said that I didn’t THINK it was necessary, I wasn’t sure. I am glad you found the information that you were looking for.

“Don’t have any updates? No problem! Many students don’t. Know any good jokes or have a favorite inspirational quotation instead?” Is this serious? Can I actually include my favorite quotations? Thank you very much!
