Hi, I am an international student and will be applying for financial aid. But, I haven’t still filled out the CSS profile because it is hard for my family to pay the fee. As an international student I dont qualify for the college board fee waiver. So, what shall I do now?

Contact the MIT Office of Student Financial Services. This is not an unknown problem. I am aware of at least one student who was admitted three years back who came from a family whose total income for the previous calendar year was $5. Forget a fee waiver, when this student landed at Boston Logan International Airport, he could not afford the T ride to MIT. For him to attend MIT, MIT had to offer him EVERYTHING. MIT offered him everything.

In your case, you will need to contact your relevant assistant director of student financial aid who are assigned according to the first letter of your surname. See <a href=“MIT Student Financial Services”>MIT Student Financial Services; for details. Your relevant assistant director will take you through the process.

I just submitted some update such as AMC score and other awards. Will MIT admission office look that or it is too late?

It’s possible that the admissions office will see your update, but it is likely that they will not. They have been in selection committee for several weeks.

Hey Mollie, could you help clarify something for me? I was accepted to MIT yesterday and am so excited! I read online from past years that only early action admitted students get the MIT tube as their acceptance package in the snail mail, so I was a bit sad cause I really wanted one! But then this morning I just received an email from admitted.mit.edu which said “our delivery owls will soon be dispatched to your door bearing a certain cylindrical surprise”… So does this mean I’m going to get one anyway? Thanks for everything!!

Last year Pi day my daughter got accepted RA and her tube came. If they say the owls will be dispatched, I would take their word for it. Congratulations!

Yes. RA students started also getting tubes a few years ago.

Has anyone received a tube yet for RA?

I plan on applying next year and I have a question. If you did pretty bad on your first SAT, will it hurt you?
Also,

You’re allowed to use score choice to send only your highest scores to MIT if you’d like. But even if you don’t use score choice, MIT will only use your highest scores to evaluate you. A low score won’t hurt you at all if you have better subsequent scores.
