Hey, I got nominated for the MIT fly-in Junior program. Apparently it’s an all-expenses covered 3-day tour of MIT where you get to meet students and staff… etc. Has anything done this before? Would you recommend it? I love MIT but it seems like a distance reach for me… would this boost my chances?

andddd it probably did

what are your SAT scores and GPA? have you won USAMO or anything?

Were you accepted? (:

Don’t you already go to Yale, class of 2013?

Why would you not take an all expenses paid tour of MIT. Sounds like a blast.

"We would like your help in identifying talented high school students who might be a good fit and match for MIT, with a preference for underrepresented minority students (i.e., African-American, Native American and Latino American students). "

Sounds like they’ve identified you as talented, and you are probably a minority. They want you to apply. Going on this trip will probably help your profile, as it shows interest, and it will also be a great experience all around. They surely didn’t just randomly select 60 juniors to invite.

^It’s an old topic from 2008.

lol! MIT was probably not a “distant reach” if s/he went to Yale. Why did you bump this?

Nothing like giving yourself a pat on the back three years later!

Hahaha! That’s why time-travel would be so cool :P

I always get jooked by people bumping old threads. If anyone was curious his stats for the “fly in” here they are:

Seems like far from a “distant reach” haha.

Ah, I never check the dates!
