David Hu will always be remembered for the funny, charming, bright, and amazing person he was. He had a way of speaking his mind, letting out unfiltered comments, that were nearly always spot on and hilarious. He would literally say exactly what was going on in his head without first checking to see if it was socially appropriate. But, it nearly always was a witty and insightful comment!! One of the absolute finest young people I have ever had the priveledge to know. David, we miss you… And those who hadn’t yet met you, they missed out on an amazing opportunity. I know MIT was your goal, and I am glad you were accepted, though you never got to follow through on that!

My son knew David. They did ARML and some other competitions together. He said he was a really nice young man. My son said they enjoyed playing ultimate frisbee, Mafia, and other fun games to let off steam at competitions. We are very, very saddened and everyone at the math circle will miss him greatly.

My DD competed in Quiz Bowl last week at UCSD. The organization created the David Hu Memorial Award to be given to the student with the highest total in Quiz Bowl. Very appropriate to have that award for him since he was very active in Quiz Bowl. RIP David Hu.
