But there’s one problem…

I took my first SAT in March and received my score today…1700 flat…I’m beyond terrified right now because I prepared for that test…even with the Blue Book. I’m just a terrible test-taker. My only hope for improvement is the fact that I was very sick the week before the SAT and couldn’t study in the week leading up to the test, but studied plenty the weeks before. I was still sick when I took the SAT, but I did not think I did even close to as poorly as I did. What are my chances of getting into the schools I listed above? And is September of Senior year too late to take my ACT???

Okay I am going to be completely honest here, with a 1700 you will almost surely not get into any of the colleges you listed. Your extracurriculars are great, and your GPA is pretty good too (I am a little confused as to how you have a lower GPA weighted than unweighted). You should try to retake the SAT or take the ACT. You shouldn’t really be worried about time, the tests are offered almost every month, so you should have plenty of time to take them, especially if you are applying regular. If you absolutely cannot get a higher score, then I would recommend also trying to apply to other schools that don’t have as high SAT middle ranges (this is easy to look up for each school). You can still apply to the schools you listed, but you have a very small chance of getting in. I’m sorry if this sounded harsh! I am only being realistic.

Yeah, I mean’t to switch the weighted and unweighted scores. Thanks for the advice, though. I’m going to re-take the SAT and take the ACT. From what I’ve heard about the ACT, it seems more like the test for me.

Ya same thing happened to me with the scores and it is seems to be happening to everybody. I would not worry about it! You have good ECs and a good gpa, so just focus on the acts for now and retake the sats later.

Ditto. Your ecs have personality (wow a patent!) so just focus on the ACT for now. It’ll work out.
