I don’t follow the MIT stuff close enough to know how the admissions office screwed up, but I thought this blog was pretty funny, complete with a link back to CC.

“Mario Institute of Technology” appeared on the last day of classes this term, a time when clearly a young person’s mind might turn to things like the endless hours of videogames from childhood…

This hack was interesting in its breadth: from Lobby 7 (Mario and the score report hanging from the upper reaches) to the Infinite Corridor to the stairwells to the kiosk and projection screen to the music to the flag on the dome, it required a lot of stealthy human-power to accomplish in a short time window. And of course a good hack never damages property or is unsafe for viewers, and it ought to amuse and bring smiles. And leaving detailed directions on how to undo everything most easily is par for the course.

My son tells me that the Mario hack was the final exam for course 19.001, taught by Prof. Jack Florey; the course had about 60 freshlings enrolled.
