Hello,
Is anyone else applying to MIT MathRoots this year?
If so, what are your stats on your application? Also does anyone know when they’re going to release decisions? (ik it’s kind of early to ask since the deadline isn’t even here yet but I just want to know in advance)
i just got accepted today! here are my stats:
math coursework - ap calc bc (5) in sophomore year, precalc freshman, currently taking multivariable calc
math competitions - amc 12: 115.5, aime 7 for 2024 cycle
standardized testing: act: 35 (36 math), sat: 1540 (800 math)
math camps: awesomemath (2022), mathpath (2020)
i wrote my essays day of deadline and would rate them like a 6.5/10 lol, but ik my letter of recommendation was good (9.5/10)
Congrats! I just got rejected. I think I’m gonna apply next year and I’ll probably just get a summer job or something, also gonna take ACT in April and maybe AMC 12 2025.
My DS got accepted as well. Is lodging and food all included? I’m looking at the website and can’t find much info
yes all lodging & food is included - it says in acceptance email!
if you’re comfortable with sharing, what was your son’s stats?
Also, if you guys wanna know, my stats were (current sophomore, 14yrs): 710/720 PSAT 9, 80/80 CLEP Calculus, self taught Algebra 2 over summer via Khan Academy, self taught Precalc over first quarter via Khan Academy, currently about to finish self teaching AP Calc BC via Khan Academy & a textbook [also registered for the AP exam]. I took Honors Geometry in 9th grade because I didn’t learn anything in 6th grade due to going to a bad school, otherwise I would have at least been in Honors Algebra 2, indicated that I was planning to take Linear Algebra or Calc 3 in the spring semester at a local college via dual enrollment. Background essay was about having immigrant parents and the financial instability that resulted and how that along with family traditions influenced my journey in mathematics and other fields in STEM, along with how my math teachers in middle school helped me get out of a period of demotivation. I had no summer camps for math. The letter of recommendation was from my counselor, however, I have fantastic rapport with him, so I don’t have doubts that the letter was written well. This all resulted in a rejection though.
