“Ouraqt: but you got into MITES! and … ur taiwanese? im taiwanese too maybei should have applied but I didn’t think being taiwanese was good. Plus I am not financially…disadvantaged in any way, according to colleges.”

True, but this year the number of applicants was like half of what it usually is. Yep, I’m Taiwanese (never met any other Taiwanese ppl in my life!).

“Ouraqt I live in Central Cali. (sort of) in Santa Cruz like 2 hours south of San Fran. and you?
Oh if you leave out of San Fran we might be able to leave together!”

I’m from Sebastopol (by Santa Rosa). Like 1 hr. north of SF. We might leave together! If I find out I’m leaving from SF, I’ll try and contact you (perhaps get a cell phone # so we can meet up).

“Yes, that’s another thing that I thought about. Students who care enough to even lurk on this forum are obviously more serious about MITES and therefore have better applications(but this doesn’t go for everyone).”

Lol. I’m lookin at friedrice right now.

I’m excited, i can finally finish planning my summer, and just focus on other stuff for now.

Likewise. It’s a huge burden off my shoulders.

Is anyone bringin their laptop? I think I’m bringing mine.

Also, is MIT your first choice for college?

MIT is my first choice…

OOOO… what kind of laptop do you have?

Dell Vostro 1500. Geforce 8600M GT, 120GB HDD, 9-cell battery (the long-lasting one), 15" screen, 2GB RAM.

Windows Vista Business.

It plays modern games at good framerates.

Mac > PC

jk lol

I have a MacBook :D

We could continue this debate for a long time and prolly no one would win.

My laptop is my main computer.

ANYWAY…

I think I should bring up a question that was asked a while ago because I’m still not sure. Where it asks for 3 places I would like to visit in the boston area, does it mean places listed in “MITES 2008 Weekend Trips”? Or just any place in Boston?

I heard we will be dining with the admissions officers of MIT (or at least meeting them). That kinda scares me!

Tell them you would like to visit Harvard, I would want to see their reactions. hehe

Actually I put that! I also put the Boston Naval Yard (when the U.S.S. Constitution is docked) and Chinatown.

It’s any places. A nice guy who went MITES two years ago answered alot of my questions yesterday. I post the email up later.

I still don’t know what to write for the three places… we probably will be dining with them, i’m excited for that!
Is anyone thinking of faxing their stuff, or are you guys going to snail mail them…

which one is better:
going to MITES or do summer research in a university and possibly enter intel later this fall?

I would go where ever your heart is on the most part, that way you will be happy and willing to do the work while you are there…

I’m still waiting for the mail…can anyone tell me what type of mail the MITES envelope is? priority mail, first class, etc…

I’m still waiting too. It’s just a big and flat white envelope.

There is NO way its priority mail, that’s for sure.

unfortunatly i was rejected. I guess they pay great attention to essays because I bsed mine and my stats are pretty high compared to others on this thread. (no offense)

Congrats to everyone who made it. Im sure you will have fun.

Thanks for speaking out! Sorry you did not make it. (which state do you live?)

I’m worried too that my stats are way too high.

florida. u?
