Can everyone who got in comment their race? I want to know how big of a role that plays in their decisions
No, no, no. Please do not comment race. That will only lead to impostor syndrome type of thoughts, and we really do not know what went through the committees head. TRUST me when I say you’re all brilliant people and everything is going to work out independent of whether you got in or not. I have friends who didn’t get in to MITES, etc and we were awesome together at MIT.
I got into E2!! I was hoping for MITES but oh well, I’m still happy!
What does the acceptance letter say?
Got Into MITES!
@Eutectic I am doing Colorado! There’s also summer work in July, though, so
The FB pages are up. Go search for mites 2015, e2@mit 2015 and mostec 2015 in fb groups.
Got into MOSTEC! Congrats to everyone, esp MITES acceptees. For those of you who didn’t get into any, its not the end of the world, you’ll be fine as far as college admissions go if you just demonstrate that you did something valuable during the summer and spent your time wisely.
On the “valuable” note. Having a summer job because you need money or want to cover your own expenses IS valuable. Colleges just want to do SOMETHING, and that some thing doesn’t have to be a job. If your only EC is a job because that’s what you need to do to take care of yourself and help your family, that’s okay!
I made an account after lurking on this thread for so long to share the good news, I made it into E2!
Accepted to MITES! Can’t wait to meet the rest of you! Congrats to everyone else who made it into E2 and MOSTEC!
I got admitted to MOSTEC and SSP!
Is it possible to do both?
I have not idea what to do, I want to go to MIT so badly this summer and MOSTEC can be the way, but SSP seems so much awesome right now. Any advise?
Got into MOSTEC!!! Wow!!! I honestly can’t believe it. Congrats to everyone! Is there any statistics out there for MOSTEC as in acceptance rate? Just wondering how many people I went up against!
For anyone visiting this thread that did MOSTEC, was it intense? I already confirmed my spot in another summer program but it’s only 3 weeks but I really wanna do MOSTEC also. I read that MOSTEC doesn’t recommend doing both at the same time, but I wonder if I can handle it since the summer program is only 3 weeks long…
What’s the problem with people saying their races? It is obviously quite important as it encourages people of color to apply. Additionally, if you look at picture of MITES from last year there is not a single white or Asian person. I am sure there are enough disadvantaged white and Asian people to fill those spots.
So, could people, as part of an informal survey, post their stats, race, and admissions result?
@Luisfer12 HAHA SAME SITUATION AS MINE XD!!! I’ll be going to Colorado, though.
I think stats/SAT scores played a major role, one of the people who said they got in the fb group was one with 2100+/2250+
On the contrary: I believe after a certain threshold, they don’t matter any more.
One of my friends who applied got a perfect score on the SAT, PSAT, 8 APs, and four SAT subject tests. Also usa biology olympiad finalist. 4.0. Rejected from all three programs
oh yeah, but also asian, and not underprivileged.
Not to be nosy, but what were your guys’ parents’ annual income? (To those who were accepted)
@ZucchiniSoup You pose a somewhat good point… Here are mine… I know it doesn’t mean much (as my essays and story even got me into SSP)… Take them with a grain of salt…
228 PSAT (raised from 187 last year, and there’s a very touching story behind it)
7 AP tests (also very good story behind this…it’s hard to believe coursework can be meaningful, but trust me…SSP appreciated it)
3.98 GPA
Got into:
MOSTEC
SSP (my most likely bap, a spinoff of bae)
I fell in love with SSP ever since someone awesome introduced me to it, so unless I can work something out with OEOP, SSP, here I come!!! <3
