MIT Student Webspace

Hey,

I read somewhere that MIT students get some webspace on MIT servers to build websites and store files.

I have a few questions for current students:

When do we get this webspace?
What are the storage and bandwidth limitations?
Does the server support PHP and/or Perl?
If we point domains at the webserver can we point them toward the webspace so that the domain shows up instead of the MIT url? Can the webspace be used as an email server? Is there a comprehensive client like cPanel in which we can manage all this?

Just wondering haha

You automatically get storage - an Athena locker - when you register your Kerebros ID after you matriculate / get your packet of information. I don’t have specific answers to any of your other questions, but you should check out SIPB’s page:

[SIPB Documentation](SIPB Documentation)

Their ‘Inessential Guide to Athena’ should be able to answer most of your questions.
