“For many hundreds of years, fiber rope bridges provided a critical role for travel in the Andes. Today, Saturday, May 12th, MIT students in 3.094, Materials in Human Experience, are constructing a 60-foot suspension bridge across the Stata Moat, between the alumni pool and buildings 16 and 56.”
Typical of MIT always something amazing happening!

I’ll make sure to walk across it! w00000 :D

Wow, the original version of this idea dates back to my freshman seminar (with the same professor), but nobody could make the commitment over IAP to actually get it done… it’s awesome that they’re finally doing it after all this time. I remember wanting to set it up between the parallels of EC. My sister’s one of the people building it too, I didn’t know she was taking this class.

The real trick is in using the original construction methods, much of it is very clever in approach.
