MIT vs. CMU vs. Cornell

Which college has the hardest course load in engineering? Rate from 1st to 3rd. Thanks

For which major? At MIT in particular, there’s quite a difference between being, say, an aerospace engineering major and a civil/environmental engineering major.

Probably should have specified…lets say for 3 majors: biomedical, chemical, and mechanical engineering.

i think MIT would top in all of those. I perfer Cornell just because of the location…and their architecture department.

CMU would be hardest for BME because you can only do it as a minor or as a second major (if I remember correctly). MIT, Cornell, CMU would be the order I would put them in regardless of engineering major though.

Cornell has an extremely demanding program in engineering. “Work ethic” is one of the things they aim to teach at Cornell. They take pride in it.

Not sure about MIT and CMU but I bet they challenge their students, too. If you are seeking to avoid a heavy workload, engineering is probably not for you.

for engineering (mech & chem) in general i would rate:

 1. MIT
 2. CMU
 3. Cornell

for comp sci:

 1. MIT & CMU
 2. Cornell

bio engineering: I’m not sure how to rate these schools but all 3 are good.
