MIT vs STANFORD

assuming you were accepted to both schools, where would you go and why?
i guess these are some things to take into consideration:
a) student life
b) level of difficulty (basically, stress level)
c) job offers after graduation

thanks!

On point a), MIT has tried in recent years to bring more balance to its curriculum and its students body (read: girls), presumably in part because they thought it would improve the academic and social atmosphere. I don’t know how well they have succeeded, but Stanford must still be a big winner on this point. CalTech, on the other hand, . . .

a) Stanford is the happiest place on Earth. MIT is a perennial competitor for the highest suicide rate. IMHO, the call is obvious.

b) Both are difficult. Both will challenge you adequately, and both will stress you out some. However, from my impressions about MIT, Stanford students either have less stress or can deal with it more effectively.

c) It’s way too early to be worrying about this. Both are great schools, and both will get you job offers. You have several years to think about that. Or more, if you’re planning on grad school.

For student life, I would definitely go for Stanford… Happiest place on Earth (ditto Sly Si Lol). MIT is very science/math concentrated and sometimes it can be very hard (academically, yeah)

Anything better than to wear nice t-shirt, short khaki pants, rainbow or reef sandals with your bicycle heading to your next classg or just walkin and plus with a nice Cal sunny weather? I don’t think so.

24/7 sunny… i love it.

From what I heard, MIT is VERY hard. (that’s why it has high suicide rate?_maybe) Of course, that doesn’t mean Stanford is easy. Both places are challenging, but maybe the huge hardcore concentration on math and science as a career pursuit in the future can easily stress out people that like math and science, but not love it.

Well, overall, I’d go for Stanford. I live in SoCal, I don’t like math and science and I’ve never been to the East coast, hate snow and the extreme Eastern chill.
