MIT "world you come from" essay topic?

Would this be a good and unique topic?
Can I write about how my brother’s autism has inspired me and driven me to find a solution/answer to this growing problem? Many of my outside EC’s(research) have been directed towards autism, and finding a cure. I am not sure if this is what they are looking for.
Would this be a unique topic?

not really your world… id save it for the optional

or challenge

I disagree. The second part of the question is “How has that…shaped your dreams and aspirations?” You don’t literally have to talk about your community/school/clubs/etc. If jogging with your dog has shaped your worldview, write about that.

In your case, writing about your brother’s autism seems like a good topic, as long as you talk about how it has shaped you. I would include some stuff about research, but don’t make it the focus. Talk about how your research and his condition has shaped you as a person.
