MITES 2009 Information and Discussion

yeah ditto here, sry to hear pnptruong.

Man there are not a lot of people that got into fly-ins I think only one or two from this forum got in. Hey what’s fly-in again?

@blackrose: fly-in is when MIT flies you in to visit for about 3 days to see the campus and drop in on some classes. It’s free, so even if you don’t get into MITES it’s a pretty good consolation prize.

wow ibbny! u got in! yay!

could you be more detailed since you are the most recent one who got in?

Like when was it sent, where do you live and stuff

thanks and congrats!

SO there are about 9ppl who got in from cc…

making math easier assume 10…

there are over 1000applicants this year, so at least 1000

they pick usually around 60…

so 50/1000…

We all have 5% of getting in still… keep your hopes up ^^

@everyone: Thank you!
Actually, I emailed them last night with an urgent tone. (Ex: I dont want to bear this burden of waiting anymore… Blah blah). I think it was a really touching email :D.
Ms Young replied me this morning, and told me that I was rejected.
@ Blackrose: I’m waiting for questbridge, too.

@pnptruong
hey if you get accepted to questbridge what program are u interested in? Also do you know when they give you the decisions for questbridge

hey :slight_smile: i haven’t heard from mites, but I applied to questbridge and they told me april 24th.

o ok thanks EsmeCat. That’s good to know.

got rejected from YESS…
they didn’t even send a snail mail. it was a COLD email. I hate them for not being considerate about our feelings!!!

I am crossing my fingers for MITES. Hope it will come tomorrow!

I LOVE YOU MITES!!! PLEASE ACCEPT ME!! I WANT IT SO BAD!
I am willing to give up everything for it!
I sound a little scarily desperate… but that is the state I am in right now.
wish everyone luck!

wow I just got an acceptance e-mail from YESS, I was not expecting that. I still prefer SSP or MITES though (mainly because they are longer than the YESS program) so heres to hoping I get off the SSP waitlist soon or finally hear from MITES

Congrats, Petri21!!!
I just looked at the YESS thread, and everyone got rejected…
At least you have a back-up now, right?

@ petri
did you get accepted to SSP or r u on the waitlist

o nvm i read it wrong congratulations petri21

Thanks guys :smiley: I’m pretty excited that I at least have something now. And YESS sounds pretty awesome. Plus if I go to YESS I might be able to convince my parents to let me visit my friend there for a while (:

@ibbny, where do you live? new york? i’m suprised you got your mail so late. When was the last time you checked your mail? I think you actually got it in your mailbox earlier but you didnt check. :p

@futurexreject
lol I was thinking he was from NY. But I never thought when he last checked his mail…

even if rejection letters were sent my snailmail, some kids should have already gotten it.
:'(

I know right, I’m hoping for tomorrow, I want to see my rejection letter already so I can move on. My mailman comes at around 2pm on saturdays so I’ll probably be checking my mail at like 2:10 :P
