ha studying is going terrible since I havn’t done any. I never did get around to buying that AP english study book. Good news though is that that is the only AP test I am taking this year and next year I will definitely be prepared. How about you Hpa?

yeah I am taking the math 2 and physics sat subject tests.

OMG don’t even get me started on the AP exams. I have the government exam not this monday but the following monday, and then the monday after that is my english lang. ap exam. I just took a full length practice test at my school this monrning and my hand was hurting me from writing all of those essays.

hey i need some advice. I’ve only taken the SAT once but are planning to take it again in June. Do you guys have any advice on bettering an SAT or even ACT score. My score was satisfactory for a first timer that didn’t study for it but I was looking at like other schools especially MIT and the scores were much higher then mine. Anyways any advice would help.

I don’t know about the SAT, I’ve only ever taken the PSAT but the general consensus on here is to take plenty of practice tests from the blue book. PM me for other sources.

the only good thing about ap english lang is you don’t really have to study for it, just practice, but yea i agree it kinda sucks. hmm well other than that i’m taking four and i’ve never been so behind in my life lol. i have no idea how imma do well in apush.

How are you guys coping with the fact that we’re almost seniors?!?!?

for me, it’s exciting, but kinda scary at the same time… i remember when i was a freshman i would tell myself not to worry about college because it was a lifetime away. and now, in a month i’ll be done with my junior year!

haha I know what you mean. I’m kindof excited and can’t believe the time will be here soon. But then I think that there is so much to do in such amount of time such as applications, college visits, and SAT’s. ugh oh any by the way thanks hpa10 for the advice.

yeah i have 2 aps to study for, a Japanese test and final exam, and regular class tests ugh.

Hey blackrose, I’d just recoomend doing alot of the practice tests and looking over tips in some of the SAT books. You could also take one of those SAT classes, my brother and sister both did the Princeton Review. It was pretty pricey but it really helped both of their scores.

Yeah I’m kinda freaking out about being a senior, everything just went by so fast. And with college apps and applying for scholarships and financial aid this coming school year is going to be crazy

Hey guys! I came back to visit this thread cause I miss you all so much!
I can’t believe we’re going to be seniors either!! How scary is that? I’ve been super busy these days-3 ap tests, SATs, SAT 2s, finals, tests, and overload of hw!!!
Yeah, for the SAT it just helps to take practice tests, and for the math part-practice practice and more practice (I recommend Grubers). Hpa10, are you taking the APUSH exam? What do you think the DBQ and FRQs will be?

That’s a lot of tests melody, good luck (: I’m sure you’ll do great

I’m using the SAT prep stuff on sparknotes.com right now, it’s all pretty good. I only missed two on the math section of the psat so I’m not too worried about that part, but I’m terrible at critical reading and writing so I’m looking at that a lot

o really is like the total opposite for me. I am not to good with the math part. I mean the math isn’t to bad but I never get to finish all of the questions on time. Oh yeah I forgot about spark notes SAT prep

hey Melody224 nice to have you back. By the way thanks for the info about the SAT subject tests.

ok I have another question about SAT’s. Let’s say you were sending out applications to school and they already have a sat on your transcript but you decide to take the SAT of ACT over again to better your score. What happens if you tell the SAT people to send it to that college but it was a bad score. Would colleges just take the highest score in each of those section. Cause when you tell SAT to send it to those school before the test you don’t know what score your going to get.

I should probably go to a SAT forum but I’m to lazy right now …:)

hope all of that made sense:)

It depends on the college. Some colleges will take the SAT test that had the highest score over all and some (most of them from what I’ve heard) will do what they call super scoring and take the highest score from each section and add that up to create your score. For example, if you got a 700 on Math, a 750 on CR and a 700 on W the first time and then a 650 on math, a 770 on CR and a 710 on W the second time they would take the best scores overall and make your test score a 700 on math, a 770 on CR and a 710 on W if they were super scoring it. Hope that made sense…

yeah it did thanks petri21

cool
aaah SAT coming up on Saturday!! Hope it goes well.

yeah but I’m not taking that one. Are you? If so good luck. I’m more worried about my AP government exam on Monday!

yup I’m taking it, and thanks :D. It’s my first actual SAT so we’ll see how it goes. Good luck on your AP gov Exam! I’m sure you’ll do great :)

lol thanks good luck on your SAT, I know you’ll do well. Have you taken the ACT yet?

Hey guys,

It’s been a while but I would like to say hello to all who applied to MITES this year. Apparently there were more than 1000 applicants which is almost double the amount of students who applied last year. So getting into MITES this year was much harder than getting into MIT. Congrats to all who were accepted.
To those who were not accepted I want you to keep in mind the fact that there were 1000 applicants and even though you weren’t accepted into MITES you should still apply to MIT and all the other schools of your choosing. MITES is indeed a program which self selects the brightest students with an interest in science and the very fact that you applied places you in that category. So, good luck to you in all your endeavors

!Mi Vida!

Thanks Blackrose, and no I haven’t taken a single ACT yet. Most of the colleges I’m looking at accept either SAT or ACT, but I think most scholarships I’ve seen ask for ACT so I guess I better start taking that too. Have you taken an ACT yet? and thanks Mi vida

Just found this thread. MITES '09!! All about the Delta and never shaking the baby!!!
